FARMINGDALE, NY - For the fourth-consecutive season, Farmingdale State College took home the Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Championship. The top-seeded Rams (14-4), who earned the Skyline's automatic bid to May's 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship, took home the conference crown with a 5-2 decision over third-seeded St. Joseph's College-Long Island.
Farmingdale State senior student-athlete, Priscilla Signore, was selected as the Most Outstanding Player of the Championship for the third time in her career. She teamed with Qurat-ul-ain Rai for a pair of No. 1 doubles victories on the weekend, and led a string of four straight Rams singles victories in the title match with a 6-0, 6-2 decision at the top flight over SJC-LI's (10-4) Amanda Post.
The visiting Golden Eagles led 2-1 after doubles competition, with Kerri McMahon and Emily Portal carding an 8-4 decision at the No. 2 flight, while Erika Hesselbirg and Nora Burnett used a 7-2 decision in a tiebreaker to earn a 9-8 victory at No. 3.
From there, following Signore's match-tying decision at No. 1 singles, Tatiana Rosamilia, Kayla Reidy and Michelle Fredericks earned straight-set triumphs at the Nos. 2, 5 and 4 flights, in that order, to give head coach Adam Waterhouse's side the hardware.
