SAYVILLE, NY - The Farmingdale State College women's and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's cross country teams captured their respective team titles at Sunday's 2016 Skyline Conference Cross Country Championship, which were held at Broadway Ave. Park.

St. Joseph's College-Long Island junior Erin MacDonell was named the women's Runner of the Year, after pacing the field with a 6,000-meter time of 24:17.97 - besting the competition by almost 27 seconds. USMMA freshman Briana Broccoli took home Rookie of the Year praise, after placing second in a time of 24:46.69. Farmingdale State sixth-year head coach Daniela Georgieva, who led the Rams to their first-ever Skyline title, was selected as Coach of the Year in a vote by her peers.

On the men's side, USMMA picked up its first Skyline title since 2006, and was paced by Runner of the Year, sophomore Connor Cole (first-place time of 27:16.14 on the 8,000-meter course). SUNY Maritime College freshman Sean Hobson placed second with a 27:19.19 time, garnering Rookie of the Year accolades in the process. Mount Saint Mary College 11th-year mentor Fred Callo was selected as Coach of the Year.

The top-seven runners in each race earned all-conference first-team distinction, while the eighth-through-14th-place finishers received second-team kudos.
