MILTON, NY - The Maritime College men's cross country team captured its first Skyline Conference championship since 2007 Sunday afternoon at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome, as head coach Colin Culhane's Privateers won the 2015 edition of the race with a total of 42 points. Meanwhile, head coach Jim Crowley's St. Joseph's College-Long Island side placed the first-through-fifth runners in the women's race, as the Golden Eagles (15 points) won their sixth-consecutive crown, and ninth in the last 10 years.
On the men's side, the meet's Most Outstanding Runner, St. Joseph's-Long Island freshman Ryan Haun won the 8,000-meter race with a time of 28:45.49. Haun bested the Rookie of the Year, Maritime's Joseph Pellegrino (28:59.16) by over 13 seconds. Culhane was voted as the 2015 Coach of the Year by his peers.
In women's action, St. Joseph's-Long Island senior Samantha Maurice was named Most Outstanding Runner after breaking the tape on the 5,000-meter course with a time of 20:36.29. Her teammate, Rookie of the Year Erin MacDonell, placed third with her 21:05.69 race. Crowley was named Coach of the Year in a vote by his peers.
