Regional Bracket
NEW YORK, NY - Five-time defending Skyline champion Farmingdale State is the No. 2 seed in the six-team New York Regional as the 56-team field for the 2012 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship has been announced. The regional will be held May 16-20 at the Farmingdale State Baseball Complex. FSC will face Skidmore on Wed., May 16, at 3:30 p.m.
The Rams (29-10) are led by freshman Thomas Rydzewski, who boasts a .410 batting average and earned Co-Skyline Rookie of the Year honors, and Skyline Pitcher of the Year Chris Phelan (8-1, 1.90 earned run average).
This will mark the second time Farmingdale State has hosted a regional for baseball. In 2009, Farmingdale State hosted a six-team regional and the Rams won the NY Regional Championship and made their first-ever trip to the Division III College World Series.
Farmingdale State's baseball complex was officially opened on May 2, 2005. The 1,000-seat stadium features batting cages, lights, dugouts and a press box. Over the past seven years, the facility has played host to the America East Championships, the Nassau Suffolk Catholic High School Playoffs, the Nassau County Baseball Playoffs, and the Long Island High School Baseball Championships.
Six teams will compete at four regional sites and eight teams will compete at four regional sites. All regionals will use a double-elimination format. Thirty-eight conference champions qualified automatically.
Winners of the eight regional tournaments will qualify for the double-elimination championship at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wis., May 25-29.

In all six-team tournaments, Games 1, 2 and 3 will be played on the first day; Games 4, 5 and 6 will be played on the second day; Games 7, 8 and 9 will be played on the third day, and Games 10 and 11 will be played on the fourth day.
