2009-10 Skyline Conference Swimming Championship Results
PURCHASE, N.Y. - SUNY Maritime College captured its third straight Skyline Conference men's swimming championship, winning six individual events and both relays. The Privateers compiled 199 points, nearly doubling the total of second-place Mount Saint Mary (102).
Both Maritime and Mount Saint Mary won six individual events, but Maritime used superior depth across the board to rack up points in every event.
Mount Saint Mary College sophomore Enrique Naudy earned Swimmer of the Year honors for the second straight year after winning three events in meet-record time - the 100-yard backstroke (54.55), the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.59), and the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.70).
Maritime freshman Joseph Tucker earned Rookie of the Year honors after winning both the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.74) and the and the 100-yard freestyle (51.74).
Maritime head coach Peter Vecchio was named Coach of the Year while Mount Saint Mary received the Team Sportsmanship Award for outstanding sportsmanship throughout the season.
In addition to the three records set by Naudy, SUNY Maritime also smashed the record in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing with a time of 3:30.69. The Privateers broke their meet record of 3:45.66 that they had set last year.
