Polytechnic Institute of NYU sophomore middle blocker Victoria Kalvert was selected as the Skyline Conference Player of the Year in women’s volleyball. Kalvert, who earned Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman last season, ranked in the top-10 in the conference in four statistical categories this season. She ranked second in hitting percentage (.304), third in kills per set (2.75), fifth in blocks per set (0.61), and tenth in service aces per set (0.49). Kalvert was a two-time selection as Skyline Conference Player of the Week this season while helping the Fighting Blue Jays to a program-best 25-9 overall record and a first-ever NCAA Tournament bid.

Polytechnic Institute of NYU freshman middle blocker/right side Corey Loupee was selected Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year. Loupee is the third straight NYU-Poly player to earn Rookie of the Year honors, following teammates Victoria Kalvert (2008) and Meredith Shipman (2007). Loupee, who hit .254, ranked third on the team in kills per set (2.16), led the team and ranked third in the conference in service aces per set (0.66), and ranked second on the team in blocks per set (0.41). She earned Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week honors on three occasions this season.

Polytechnic Institute of NYU junior outside hitter Meredith Shipman was selected as the Most Valuable Player in the Skyline Conference women’s volleyball tournament as she led the Fighting Blue Jays to their first Skyline title and first NCAA Tournament bid in any sport. Shipman averaged 4.88 kills per set while hitting .473 (39-4-74) in the two matches. In the championship against Sage, she had 25 kills and just three errors. Her biggest kills came in the deciding fifth set with the NYU-Poly trailing 14-11 and facing three match points. The Fighting Blue Jays scored three straight points and six of the next seven to rally for the conference championship.

Despite losing two all-conference players to graduation from the 2008 Skyline Conference championship team, ninth-year Sage head coach Lisa Gallagher had her team in position to contend for another conference title. Faced with the task of replacing 2008 Skyline Player of the Year and career assist leader Kaitlin Olmstead as well as two-time All-Skyline first-team selection Krista Provost, Gallagher directed her squad to a 7-2 mark during Skyline regular-season play. The Gators also knocked off second-seeded St. Joseph’s in the conference semifinals. Sage then dropped a hard fought 3-2 decision to top-seeded NYU-Poly in the championship match.

The Sage Colleges also received the Skyline Conference Team Sportsmanship Award in women's volleyball after displaying outstanding sportsmanship throughout the 2009 campaign.
